ਮੂਹਰੇ ਬੇਗੋ ਤੇ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਇੰਦਰ, ਰਾਵੀ ਪੁਲ ਤੇ ਆਏ

ਬੇਗੋ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਸੁਣ ਕੇ ਇੰਦਰ, ਛਾਲ ਰਾਵੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਾਰੀ
ਰੁੜਦੇ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਆਸ਼ਕ ਨੂੰ ਤੱਕ, ਮਾਰਨ ਪੰਛੀ ਧਾਹਾਂ
ਛਾਲ ਮਾਰ ਫੇਰ ਬੇਗੋ ਇੰਦਰ ਗਲ ਜਾ ਪਾਈਆਂ ਬਾਹਾਂ

Inder Mall was a well-known and prosperous  Bania ( Hindu Merchant ) of Lahore. One day a beautiful woman named Bego came to buy something from his shop. Inder instantly fell in love with her. Bego took advantage of the situation and challenged him to set his shop afire if he really loved her ! and Inder did ! But Bego was not satisfied with this. She took him to Raavi ( famous river by which Lahore stands ) and asked him to jump in it ! Once again Inder, head over heels in love, obliged. But then Inder's love provoked her too and she too dived in the river ( in a bid to save him ) and both drowned in each others arms. But as long as people will live they will be remembered as subject of such ballads.
