ਪੰਜਾਬ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਤੇ ਸ਼ਰਮਿੰਦਾ !

ਕੁੱਝ ਚਿਰ ਪਹਿਲੋਂ ਲੰਦਨ ਯੂਨੀਵਰਸਿਟੀ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨੀ ਪੜ੍ਹਿਆਰ ਕੁੜੀ ਦੱਸ ਰਹੀ ਸੀ ਪਈ ਕਿਵੇਂ ਨਿੱਕੀਆਂ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਜਦੋਂ ਉਹ ਪਹਿਲੀ ਵਾਰੀ ਲੰਦਨ ਆਈਆਂ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹ ਵੇਖ ਕੇ ਹੈਰਾਨੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਸੀ ਪਈ ਇੱਥੇ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨੀ ਨਿਆਣੇ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਤੇ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਬੋਲਦੇ ਸੀ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਉਰਦੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ ਸੀ।

ਮੈਂ ਹੈਰਾਨੀ ਦਾ ਕਾਰਨ ਜਾਨਣਾ ਚਾਹਿਆ ਤੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਮਿਲਿਆ ਪਈ ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਇਹੋ ਪਤਾ ਸੀ ਪਈ ' ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਨੌਕਰਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਇਨ ਪੜ੍ਹ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਯਾਂ ਗਲੀ ਮੁਹੱਲੇ ਦੇ ਨਿਆਣਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਬੋਲੀ ਦੀ ਆ। ਗੱਲ ਜਾਰੀ ਰੱਖਦਿਆਂ ਹੋਇਆਂ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਹਿਆ ਇਹਦੇ ਤੋਂ ਅੱਡ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਇਸ ਵੇਲ਼ੇ ਵੀ ਸੁਣਨ ਨੂੰ ਮਿਲਦੀ ਸੀ ਜਦੋਂ ਮਾਂ ਪਿਓ ਵਿਚ ਲੜਾਈ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਸੀ '।

ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦਾ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੰਘੇ ਬਚਪਨ ਦਾ ਇਹੋ ਤਾਸਰ ਸੀ ਪਈ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਉਹ ਬੋਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਜਿਨੂੰ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਉਰਦੂ ਨਹੀਂ ਆਉਂਦੀ।

ਉਹਦੇ ਅਗਲੇ ਦਿਨ ਹੀ ਲੰਦਨ ਦੀ ਅਲਫ਼ੋਰਡਲੀਨ ਵਿਚ ਸਿੰਧ ਦੇ ਇਕ ਵਕੀਲ ਨਾਲ ਮਿਲਣੀ ਹੋਈ। ਗੱਲਾਂ ਗੱਲਾਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੱਲ ਬਾਤ ਦਾ ਮੋਜ਼ੂਅ ' ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਤਾਲਿਬਾਨ ' ਹੋ ਗਿਆ। ਇਸੇ ਵਿਚਕਾਰ ਫਿਰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਾਨਣਾ ਚਾਹਿਆ ਪਈ ਕੀ ਹੱਕੀ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿੱਚ ਲੋਕ ਨਿਆਣਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਗੱਲ ਬਾਤ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕਦੇ ਨੇਂ।
ਪੰਜਾਬ ਦੇ ਅਜੋਕੇ ਮਾਹੌਲ ਤੋਂ ਖ਼ਬਰਦਾਰ ਲੋਕ ਮਨਨਗੇ ਪਈ ਇਹਦਾ ਜਵਾਬ ਪੱਕੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ ਹਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਹੀ ਹੋਸਕਦਾ ਸੀ। ਪੰਜਾਬ ਵਿਚ ਇਕ ਮੀਲ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਮਾਂ ਬੋਲੀ ਦੀ ਅਹਿਮੀਅਤ ਤੇ ਜ਼ੋਰ ਦਿੰਦਾ ਹੈ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਦੇ ਅਦਬੀ ਵਿਰਸੇ ਤੇ ਆਕੜ ਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਰ ਆਪਣੇ ਨਿਆਣਿਆਂ ਨਾਲ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਯਾਂ ਉਰਦੂ ਵਿਚ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਦਾ ਹੈ।

ਉਹਨਾਂ ਵਿਚ ਇੰਜ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਵੀ ਰਲਤੀ ਨੇਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਿਆਣਿਆਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਂ ਮੁਕਾਮੀ ਵਿਰਸੇ ਤੇ ਰੱਖੇ ਗਏ ਨੇਂ ਪਰ ਉਹ ਨਿਆਣੇ ਇਸ ਵਿਰਸੇ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਣੂੰ ਨਹੀਂ ਤੇ ਮਾਂ ਬੋਲੀ ਨਹੀਂ ਬੋਲ ਸਕਦੇ।

ਇਹਦੇ ਉਲਟ ਇਕ ਦੂਜਾ ਮੇਲ ਹੈ ਜਿਹੜਾ ਨਿਆਣਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਬੋਲੀ ਬੋਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਰੋਕਦਾ ਹੈ ਸਗੋਂ ਕਈ ਲੋਕ ਇਸ ਮਾਮਲੇ ਵਿਚ ਸਖ਼ਤੀ ਵੀ ਕਰਦੇ ਨੇਂ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਲ ਗੱਲ ਕਰਨ ਤੇ ਜਵਾਬ ਮਿਲਦਾ ਹੈ ਪਈ ਸਾਰੇ ਸੂਝਵਾਨ ਆਪੋਂ ਤੇ ਨਿਆਣਿਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਅੰਗਰੇਜ਼ੀ ਯਾਂ ਉਰਦੂ ਸਿਖਾਵਣਦੇ ਨੇਂ ਤੇ ਚਾਹੁੰਦੇ ਨੇਂ ਪਈ ਸਾਡੇ ਨਿਆਣੇ ਹਯਾਤੀ ਵਿਚ ਪਿੱਛੇ ਰਹਿ ਜਾਵਣ।

ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨੀ ਅਸ਼ਰਾਫ਼ੀਆ ਵਿਚ ਇੰਜ ਦੇ ਲੋਕ ਵੀ ਨੇਂ ਜਿਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਖ਼ਿਆਲ ਵਿਚ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਸਿਰਫ਼ ਗੱਲ ਬਾਤ ਦੀ ਬੋਲੀ ਹੈ ਇਹਦਾ ਪੜ੍ਹਾਈ ਨਾਲ ਕੀ ਵਾਸਤਾ।

ਗੱਲ ਫਿਰ ਪੰਜਾਬੀ ਤਾਲਿਬਾਨ ਵੱਲ ਮੁੜ ਗਈ। ਤੱਤ ਇਹੋ ਨਿਕਲਿਆ ਪਈ ਕਿਸੇ ਵੀ ਵਸੇਬ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਦਰਾਂ ਉਹਦੀ ਸ਼ਾਇਰੀ ਤੇ ਅਦਬ ਮੁੱਕਦੀ ਗਲ ਉਹਦੀ ਬੋਲੀ ਵਿਚ ਮਹਿਫ਼ੂਜ਼ ਹੁੰਦਿਆਂ ਨੇਂ ,ਤੈ ਜਦੋਂ ਲੋਕ ਬੋਲੀ ਛੱਡ ਦਿੰਦੇ ਨੇਂ ਤੇ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਕਦਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਰੀਤਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਵੀ ਦੂਰ ਹੋ ਜਾਂਦੇ ਨੇਂ ਜਿਹੜੀਆਂ ਤਾਰੀਖ਼ੀ ਅਮਲ ਨਾਲ ਬਣ ਦੀਆਂ ਨੇਂ। ਪਾਕਿਸਤਾਨੀ ਵਸੇਬ ਵਿਚ ਪਾੜ ਤੇ ਹਰ ਪਾਸਿਓਂ ਹਾਰ ਦੀ ਵੀ ਖ਼ੋਰੇ ਇਹੋ ਵਜ੍ਹਾ ਹੈ।

ehhi haal hun PUNJAB de hr changge  sheher da hoyea hoya g.........jithe channge bhalle  punjabi likhan padan te bolan wale parents apne bacheya nal ENGLISH ya HINDI ch gal krni pasand krde ne n tht too not just in PUBLIC PLACES but at home as well the reason being punjabi ch gal kr ke bacha kewal gallan kadniyan(abusive language) sikhda hor kuch nahi.......n moreover d second reason thy give d mother tongue has got no place in d highly competitive wolrd outside.....eh gal meri hee ik colleague ne kehi n i felt sorry for d kid bcoz oh punjabi bolda bahaut vadiya lagda.....te ohnu forcefully hindi ya english bulwayi jandi.....

Mere students rural families nu belong krde n aksar puch lende mam g sadda angreji toh bina kee banunga.......khich dhooh ke graduation kr jani but thn thy have big ?mark on d future.......menu lagda vocational skill training angreji de naal punjabi ch v hone chahide........so tht thy don't feel thmselves to be out of d rat race........

thy need reassurence from time to time k nahi tusi punjabi ch v bahaut kuch kr sakde ho........ik do univ life dekhange shayad Punjabi litt ch masters kr len.....but jinna da interest hor fields ch aa oh 100 waar sochange na dimag chaleya ta fer kheti ta kite gayi nee kehnde.

I am from the west..I learnt at young age to swear in Punjabi, but, never saw it as inferior...the thing is I love Punjabi beacuse of my roots and yes, ma pio nay kar boli hai..but living in UK surrounded by ENglish, that was the natural language to learn ( realistically English is my Ma Boli, Punjabi my Baap Boli). My Punjabi can never be as good as yours ( people in Punjab), but I can and do always try... In the same logic does not matter how much English to get ahead the Schools in Punjab teach, no one in India can ever be good enough to a western born and raised in English enviroment,..therefore it is more logical to teach Punjabi and English only as 3rd or 2nd Language..ik misal dinda..my cousin sister got high grades in good school in India, but when she immigrated to UK, she could not understand the local people..why?

1) UK slang is not known in India

2) India teaches an English that hardly exists in the west now..languages are organic and they change

3) She will always have an Indian accent and the local whites will laugh at her ( think about how you Punjabis laugh when we try to prnounce Punjabi words)

English in UK is not same..it has evolved..that is what I am trying to do with my Punjabi writing..pull up your local methods to true international standards..Charles Dickens and all that is a dead form of English...

Getting a job in the international community does not come from English, but being good at your profession..I wish the stupid middle classes of India could understand that...In Europe the English are see as stupid if all they can speak is English..the funny thing is to impress clever English people, you have to speak other languages ( English locally in UK is considered Rungar), such as French, Spanish or Punjabi, Hindi and Urdu!!

The French and others never giove up their languages, English has always been taught as second language..yet the idiots in Punjab teach it as first!! Funny thing is those who write Punjabi on their CV as a second language ( applies to any 2nd language) are more likely to get higher paid jobs!!

The only use my cousin from India finds for English is to talk to the lower classes!!

If Indians were really clever...they would teach all subjects in Punjabi first..this areguement about kee baniga..vakvaas! How comes all Europeans are experts in their own mother tongues first and still manage to learn English and get good prospects? In my firm the highest paid are all those who can read and write other languages, so the business does well in all markets...English speakers are good for low paid office jobs or to clean the toilets...so I still don't understand the Indian idea..look at it like this..India is going mad learning English so its economy will do well...China is refusing to learn English..but in Long term China will win. Why?

1) All the upper clases in UK have already started getting Chinese lessons, for that reason

2) What matters is justice, democracy and all sorts of other Living Standards for society which Indians don't do...
