I always wonder people saying that the songs should be the one which we can listen with family specially with mother and sisters. Are we endorsing two subclasses within society one for males and one for females? Either we should listen or not at all. To me people who write these kind of articles at the root of their thinking they also assume difference between male and female. If our so called social reformer still believe in inequlity then we cannot move forward. Do not get me wrong I am not with people who write vulgar songs but I want to say we should not use the term family songs if we really want to move forward. We should give up this mentality that guys can listen the songs whatever they like but not infront of family. To me it's either yes or no. My two cents.

ਮੈਨੂੰ ਹਮੇਸ਼ਾ ਹੈਰਾਨੀ ਹੁੰਦੀ ਹੈ ਜਦ ਲੋਕ ਕਹਿੰਦੇ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਗਾਣੇ ਉਹ ਹੋਣੇ ਚਾਹੀਦੇ ਹਣ ਜੋ ਅਸੀ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਵਿਚ ਬੈਠ ਕੇ ਸੁਣ ਸਕੀਏ, ਖਾਸ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਮਾਂ, ਭੈਣ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ... ਕੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਸਮਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਦੋ ਗਰੁਪਾ ਦੇ ਹਾਮੀ ਹਾਂ, ਇਕ ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਲਈ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੁਰੁਸ਼ਾ ਲਈ.. ਹੋਣਾ ਤਾਂ ਇੰਝ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ ਹਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਨਾ... ਮੇਰੇ ਖਿਆਲ ਵਿੱਚ ਜੋ ਇਸ ਤਰਾਂ ਦੇ ਲੇਖ ਲਿਖਦੇ ਨੇ ਉਹ ਦੀ ਸੋਚ ਦੀ ਜੜ ਵਿੱਚ ਉਹ ਵੀ  ਇਸਤਰੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਇੱਕ ਪੁਰੁਸ਼ਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਭੇਦ ਮੰਨਦੇ ਹਨ, ਜੋ ਸਰਾਸਰ ਗਲਤ ਹੈ..  ਜਿੰਨੀ ਦੇਰ ਤੱਕ ਇਹ ਸਾਡੇ ਸਮਾਜ ਸੁਧਾਰਕ ਇਸ ਨਾਬਰਾਬਰਤਾ ਦੀ ਹਾਮੀ ਭਰਦੇ ਰਹਿਣਗੇ ਉੰਨੀ ਦੇਰ ਤ੍ੱਕ ਅਸੀਂ ਅੱਗੇ ਨਹੀਂ ਵੱਧ ਸਕਦੇ..  ਮੈਨੂੰ ਗਲਤ ਨਾ ਸਮਝ ਲੈਣਾ, ਮੈ ਵਲਗਰ ਲਿਖਣ ਵਲਿਆ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ ਨਹੀਂ ਹਾਂ... ਮੈਂ ਤਾਂ ਕਹਿਣਾ ਚਾਹ ਰਿਹਾ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਪਰਿਵਾਰਕ ਗਾਣੇ ਲਫ਼ਜ਼ ਨਹੀਂ ਵਰਤਨਾ ਚਾਹੀਦਾ ਹੈ, ਕੀ ਅਸੀਂ ਕਹਿ ਰਹੇ ਹਾਂ ਕਿ ਮੁੰਡੇ ਜੋ ਮਰਜ਼ੀ ਸੁਣ ਲੈਣ ਪਰ ਪਰਿਵਾਰ ਸਾਹਮਣੇ ਨਹੀਂ... ਕਿਸੇ ਹੱਦ ਤੱਕ ਇਹ ਸੋਚ ਸਾਡਾ ਘਾਣ ਕਰ ਰਹੀ ਹੈ.. ਮੇਰੇ ਖਿਆਲ ਇੱਚ ਜਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਹਾਂ ਜਾਂ ਨਾ....
